Nova Siria, member of the Hawle Austria Group, signed a multimillion euros project for Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey, together with Superlit GRP pipe producer for DN4000 mechanical couplings installed on DN4000 GRP pipes.   MARCO FERRERO, NOVA SIRIA MANAGING DIRECTOR "The collaboration between Nova Siria and Superlit has already started many years ago. The service life of Akkuyu NPP is 60 years and slightly enriched uranium dioxide serves as the fuel. In 2019, Superlit Boru Sanayi A.Ş. has been chosen as solution partner for the supply and installation of marine GRP pipelines which will serve as the discharge lines of the plant’s cooling system. Some of the challenging part of this nuclear project is: • Supply of DN4000 SN10000 pipes • Installation depth of -50m • Limited diving time • Environmental conditions Due to the SUPERLIT full-face® GRP couplings and his own technology development patented special SUPERLIT rotatable Marine-Lug®, the outcomes of above difficulties will be minimized. Superlit GRP pipes with diameters DN 2000mm, DN 3000mm and DN 4000mm will be installed by success at depths varying from -26m to -48m. The length of each pipeline is about 1100 m and the total length of the 10 parallel sea outfall structure is more than 10km of pipeline. Akkuyu NPP cooling water marine GRP pipeline project will have the largest diameter and deepest water installation record not only in Turkey but also worldwide.
