A swimming course in memory of Luigi Ferrero

On the occasion of the celebrations for 90 years of history, NOVA SIRIA has decided to finance a swimming course at the swimming pool of Villa Glicini in San Secondo di Pinerolo for 5 children with autism, followed by the BUM Autism Center, a service of the Diaconia Waldensian.
The goal is to provide these children with the opportunity to access swimming by attending a natural setting such as that of the swimming pool.
The choice of a swimming course combined with the celebrations of 90 years of company history is not accidental. Nova Siria in fact wanted to honor Luigi Ferrero, the company's CEO for over forty years, who died prematurely in August 2021.
Luigi deeply loved swimming, so much so that it became a real lifestyle.
The passion for swimming soon settled in his heart, so much so that at the age of 10, starting from his home in San Maurizio Canavese (TO), he began to swim and successfully participate in the first races. During his youth he collected numerous regional and national titles during various competitions, and then also came to embrace water polo, playing in the 3S Luserna formation for several years.
Since the Eighties, with the birth of the two children, Stefania and Marco, and the commitment at the helm of Nova Siria, with their brother Mario and father Aldo, the time for swimming had unfortunately reduced drastically until it disappeared, but the the desire to return sooner or later to the tub had always remained a dream to be realized.
The long-awaited moment finally arrives in 2017: Luigi starts swimming again in the Perosa Argentina pool, training with a Master team registered on the FIN circuit. During the races he meets the Aquatica club of Turin, which competes in the UISP circuit: he decides to become a member and begins to participate in other competitions as well.
In 2018, in addition to the regional and interregional competitions, Luigi begins to participate in the Italian and European Championships: in June 2018 he participates in the UISP Italian Championships in Riccione, where he wins the title of Italian Champion in the 100 breaststroke and bronze in the 50 breaststroke and mixed relay .
In July 2018 he participates for the first time in a relay of swimming and running in free water, where he is awarded as the oldest swimmer. Also in July, he takes part in the Italian FIN championships in Palermo and in September he competes in the European Championships in Slovenia.
In 2019 he participates in the Regional, Interregional and National Championships. In June he took part in the UISP Italian Masters Championship in San Marino, where he became twice Italian champion in the 50 and 100 breaststroke. Also in June he takes part in the FINN Italian Championships in Riccione.
In July he competes at the European Master Games in Turin. In the summer of 2019, take part in the Hermitage Swim with 500 meters breaststroke on Lake Maggiore.

"When we go down into the water or dive and, alone with ourselves,
we face the pools, we can be sure that we will get out of the pool
a little more different every day, changed from what we were: changed for the better! ".
